About
An adventure, for most people, usually involves an exciting activity. For Althea Mycka Ella Bong, it was merely being lost in an experience, like a dream where you would not want to wake up but you are. Her adventures heavily relied on words. Whenever she was bored, all she had to do was pick a book from her shelf and get lost in it. When she was happy, sad or angry, all she had to do was face her screen and type her feelings down in a better way. Like creating art with heavy brushstrokes and ending up with a colorful canvas.Althea attended Makati Hope Christian School where she had been a consistent high honors student since her first year of high school, and even graduated with the second highest honors from her batch, having 98.71 as her general weighted average. She had the advantage of reading more than her classmates, she had the highest Scholastic Lexile, starting with 1200 during her seventh grade and ending with 1400 during her ninth grade. Even when literature was her main passion, she did not hinder herself from pursuing other hobbies. She ended up joining a theatrics (ARTS) club, a multimedia and art club, which focused on digital and traditional art respectively, and a mathematics club where she wanted to apply mathematics in other ways.Writing has always been one of the things that sets Althea’s heart ablaze. From the way she expands one idea into a thousand words, to the way she embeds a learned lesson from her life into the pages. In 2020, Althea was able to finish a Filipino romance novel named By the Petals where she emphasized the importance of finding light when you are in a dark place. In 2021, she had self published the book, giving copies only to her closest friends and relatives. Writing had always been her escape. When she was angry with the world, she wrote it down, hoping that it would someday change it. Writing was both her imagination and reality.At Enderun Colleges, Althea is a part of the Humanities and Social Sciences Track. She also joined Spectrum, an organization that advocates for LGBTQIA+ people. She joined Enderun Zonta where the main focus was to empower women. She joined ELED, an organization that strives for economic development. She was a writer for Enderun’s official news portal, INK. Lastly, as part of being a scholar, Althea participates in an organization called Lux Lucis.Now, Althea is a multimedia artist, wherein she utilizes her artistic and creative skills, along with her writing forte to communicate with the world.
